Lions defeat Deer Park 61-14 in season opener

Andrew Nealan scored touchdowns on runs of 64, 14 and 24 yards and gained 149 yards in 10 carries to lead the Lions to a 61-14 win over Deer Park in the 2009 season opener.

Nealan also scored on an 18-yard pass from quarterback Garrett Myers.

Myers gained 121 yards in 8 carries for two touchdowns in addition to the touchdown pass for the Lions, who outgained Deer Park 475 to 210.

 

Other Lions scores came on a 25-yard pass from Austin Warden to Joey McCabe and TD runs of 18 yards by Nick Williams and 55 yards by Nick Hill.

 

Kevin Hamilton and Andy Case led the Lions on defense with 5 tackles each. Nealan, McCabe, Tre Jetter, and Alex Chesney were credited for 4.5 tackes while Austin Warden and Dany Scholz recorded 3.5 tackles. Hamilton also recorded an interception on the play before Nealan's 64-yard run. Danny Scholz and Robbie Lemar recovered fumbles for the Lions.
