Robots and Coding and Drones, Oh My!

This year, New Richmond High School added two new STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) based electives that are certainly taking our students education to new heights.

NRHS welcomed in the new Robotics and Drone courses at the beginning of the  2018/2019 school year. With the introduction of these new courses, students are embracing new skills and knowledge that are critical in the ever-changing technological world. In addition to hands on experience with robotics and drones, students are getting a crash course in computer programming and basic engineering concepts.

“Technology is always changing the way people do things in every part of the world, and as time continues, so does the need to teach new technologies.  Teaching robotics in school is becoming an increasingly indispensable part of many schools’ curriculum and these classes will help students with creative thinking skills, hands-on learning, programming skills, preparedness, perseverance, and teamwork.” stated the new Robotics and Drone teacher, Mr. Lindner.

Lindner is no unfamiliar face in the district, working previously as the tech integrationist at New Richmond Elementary and Monroe Elementary. Coming into this role with a Masters in Educational Technology and spending twelve out of his fifteen years in education teaching technology, these courses are a perfect fit for NREVSD’s tech guru.

“Robotics and Drones are certainly technologies we will see in the future more and more, so teaching this was a fantastic way to continue to do what I have done for so long, which is teach new technologies and help prepare students for the future,” stated Lindner. “ I am very proud to be apart of our winning culture here and i’m thrilled that our students are fortunate to have elective offerings such as Robotics and Drones classes. I am more than happy to teach these classes for our students in such a superb school district.”
