Wednesday Headlines January 7th, 2015

Marco's Pizza night for this month will be WEDNESDAY JANUARY 7th!
Remember, this is a PTO moneymaker and LCE gets a portion of the proceeds from sales...plus, the winning classroom gets their own PIZZA PARTY.
This Friday, January 9th, report cards will be sent home. Parents of 2nd grade students should also check for Terra Nova results. This is a norm referenced assessment which New Richmond schools gave for the first time in November. It assesses Reading and Math and gives us a percentile score so that we may see how our students stack-up academically related to other students their ages across the nation. Parents and teachers are provided with a percentile score and a leveled list of books titles written at students' current lexile levels. Please look for this helpful document if your child is in 2nd grade. This diagnostic test will really help us key-in on students who may need additional intervention before their 3rd grade year.
Please be sure your children are dressing for this frigid weather. We really try to get them outside (at least for a short time) on a daily basis and hats, gloves zipped coats, scarves and even boots are a good idea.
Items needed for our Cinderella Closet. We would appreciate any gently used dresses, accessories, shoes for folks to browse through if they are in need of attire for the Father-Daughter dance here at LCE. Please bring to the front office at LCE by Friday, January 30th.
LCE Father-Daughter Dance is February 7, 2015 from 6-8pm. Stay tuned for registration and further information about this special event. All are welcomed!

Warm Winter Wishes to all of you...

Needed:

One boy (in Kindergarten, first or second grade) for a small part in the Spring musical this March!

The 5th & 6th grade musical this year, Sleeping Beauty, kids, has a small part for a young boy. Appearing only in the first scene with 3 lines, the toddler-aged Prince Phillip looks into a bassinet and acts as though Princess Aurora, only a baby, is laying there. If any boy in Kindergarten, first or second grade would be interested in trying out for this role, please contact Mrs. McConnell to arrange a time. I would like to assign this part before Tuesday, January 20th.
