Students of the month to be honored

New Richmond High School is partnering with the Green Kayak Market & Eatery and Park National Bank to honor four students a month for outstanding effort, contributions to the community and achievement at the classroom.

"We are pleased that businesses in our community like the Green Kayak and Park National Bank are interested in our students,” said NREVSD Supt. Adam Bird.  "They share our belief that we have great young people in our community that deserve recognition for their many accomplishments."

By creating a Student of the Month Program, New Richmond High School hopes to celebrate individual achievement by creating a culture of learning that values academic success, as well as elevates awareness of student contributions to the New Richmond community at large.

A New Richmond High School teacher, administrator, or school counselor may nominate a student for Student of the Month (SOTM) based upon any or all of the following criteria:

* Outstanding grades

* Marked improvement in grades

*Exemplary attendance

* Cooperation/teamwork

* Leadership

* Consideration to others

* Outstanding attitude/disposition

* Community involvement] service

* Faithful following of the “4 R’s”

A student of the month will be selected in all four high school grades and will be honored the month following their selection with the first awards beginning in February. Students who are selected as SOTM will not be able to earn the award again that school year. Nominations will carry over from month to month and re-nominations will be accepted.

Recipients will be recognized with a  Certi?cate of Commendation;  their names and bios posted on the school website and in community newspapers; their photographs displayed in the main of?ce; and honored at a public session of  the Board of Education  in May and recognized at an awards ceremony at the Green Kayak.

"Many times our society only hears about the students who make poor decisions,” said Bird. “The vast majority of our students work hard and are involved with many activities.  This monthly award for four New Richmond High School students will bring some positive attention to deserving students.
