Music News

Parents of Fourth Grade Students:

Soon it will be time for recorders in music class! All fourth grade students need to bring their recorder to music class starting September 24th. Each student needs to have his/her own instrument. The recorders are sold at school for $2.50. This price not only pays for the recorder, it also includes a pouch for the recorder, a fingering chart and a cleaning rod. Students may purchase a recorder in the school bookstore across from the cafeteria on Monday mornings. All music and instructional materials will be provided for the students at no additional cost. Please send your child’s recorder to school with them on their music days beginning Wednesday, September 24th which is Day 1 in the specials’ rotation. (See schedule below).

Fourth Grade Music Schedule:

Mrs. Phillip’s class Day 1

Mr. Jackson’s class Day 2

Mr. Sayer’s class Day 4

If your child already has a recorder at home, they may use that one. If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to call me at 752-1432 Ext. 13305 or send an e-mail message to [email protected] .

Thank you,

Mrs. McConnell

Chorus News

Dear Parents:

Welcome to Chorus this year! Included in this letter are the dates of performances and other information that is relevant to participation in Chorus. At least two evening performances have been scheduled and we ask that the Chorus members make a commitment to attend these two concerts. Our Christmas Concert will be on Thursday, December 11th at 7:00 p.m. and the Spring Concert/Fine Arts Night will be on Thursday, May 7that 7:00 p.m. It is important to know that students may participate in both Chorus and Band without creating any conflicts.

Chorus students should wear a black and white outfit for the concerts: boys need a pair of black dress pants, a white button down shirt and black shoes; girls need either a black skirt or pair of dress pants, a white button down blouse or shirt and black shoes.

Several students have expressed an interest in trying out for the school’s musical which will be Disney’s Sleeping Beauty, Kids this year. Please remember that only students enrolled in the Chorus program will be eligible to audition for the musical. Students are not required to participate in the musical and most rehearsals are held after school. The performance dates of the musical will be Wednesday, March 25th and Thursday, March 26th at 7:00 pm. Since Spring Break begins the week after our performances, we avoid scheduling a performance on that Friday night.

The Variety Show will be in the fall again this year on Thursday, October 23rd beginning at 6:30pm. Any interested students should begin planning and practicing for this event. More information will be coming home soon regarding the Variety Show.

If your son or daughter has chosen to join chorus class, please sign and return the bottom portion of this letter and have them return it to me at school by September 5th. If you have any questions, please call me at 752-1432 Ext. 13305. I’m looking forward to a great year in Chorus!

Thanks!

Mrs. McConnell
