Student volunteers needed for NR’s Big Bash

The New Richmond Schools Education Foundation is in need of student volunteers to help with its events during New Richmond’s Bicentennial Big Bash Sept. 19-21. Volunteers will receive credit for community service.

“We especially need help with the children's games (cake walk, tug-o-war, sack and hoop races) as well as spotters for the pumpkin chuck,” said Amy Weiskittel, Grants Director, New Richmond Schools Education Foundation “On Friday and Saturday night we will need help setting up and taking down the straw maze.”

The NREF is sponsoring Tom Sawyerville in old Susanna (Saturday only) featuring Kid’s Games, Petting Zoo, Orsanco Ohio River Fish Aquarium, Living History Characters, Artisan Demonstrations and highlighted by a performance of Tom Sawyer The Musical at 11:30 a.m. Saturday and 4 p.m. Sunday at Curly’s BBQ Pavilion. Tom Sawyer The Musical is directed by Locust Corner Elementary teacher Paige McConnell and features a cast of New Richmond district students.

Beechmont Chick-fil-a is bringing down free lunches on Saturday for all volunteers and Chick-fil-a coupons will be given to workers on Friday and Sunday.
