Emma Haussler was honored Oct 21 by the New Richmond Board of Education and presented with the Leading Lion Award.
The first-year preschool teacher at Monroe Elementary School went above and beyond the call of duty last month when she willingly changed her evening plans to support two students, said Director of Transportation Andy Mays.
"I'm impressed and humbled by what she did," Mays told the Board of Education.
Superintendent Tracey Miller echoed Mays' sentiment and said he was appreciative for Haussler's "dedication to our students."
