NRHS Student-Athletes Exceed In the Classroom and in Competition

This past year, 61% of our student-athletes were identified as SBAAC Scholar Athletes. In order to qualify for this honor, students must maintain a GPA of 3.5 or higher during their athletic season.

Legendary NBA player and coach, Pat Riley once said, “There are only two options regarding commitment. You’re either IN or you’re OUT. There is no such thing in life as between”.

For the student-athlete, you must be as committed to developing yourself off the field of competition as you are on. At NREVSD, we are excited to boast on the men and women we have representing us athletically, as well as those excelling in the classroom.

This past year, 61% of our student-athletes were identified as SBAAC Scholar Athletes. In order to qualify for this honor, students must maintain a GPA of 3.5 or higher during their athletic season.

“I continue to be amazed by the number of students who are designated as Scholar Athletes at New Richmond High School,” stated NRHS Principal, Mr. Mark Bailey. “Their efforts both in the classroom and on the court or playing field have resulted in receiving the SBAAC All Sports Award 4 out of the last 5 years.”

As impressive as these stats are, there are a handful of teams who went above and beyond. The following teams had 80% or more of their participants qualify as a scholar athlete: Girls Track (82%), Girls Swimming (83%), Girls Cross Country (85%), Girls Golf (88%), and both the Academic Team, as well as the Boys Swimming, had 100% of their team earn scholar athlete honors.

“In addition, our students' (athlete and non-athlete) academic efforts have given us the honor of being able to state that we are identified as the highest academically achieving high school in Clermont County for the past 2 years based on data received from the ODE Local Report Card," stated Bailey.

Job well done Lions!
