Lions Reach Out Helps Students in Need

As that crisp fall air moves into the area, Lions Reach Out (LRO) set their focus on the needs that are quickly approaching within the New Richmond community.

As that crisp fall air moves into the area, Lions Reach Out (LRO) set their focus on the needs that are quickly approaching within the New Richmond community.

LRO, led by NRHS teacher, Sue Griffin, is a New Richmond High School-based, nonprofit charity which aids needy students and their families throughout the district. In the spring of 2017, LRO was awarded the Salute to Leaders Award from Clermont County Chamber of Commerce, a prestigious award given to individuals and groups for their positive contributions to the Clermont County community.

For over 10 years now, LRO has been serving our district by providing emergency clothing for students in need, as well as providing financial assistance for school trips, various testing and school fees, dance expenses, and other monetary needs as they arise.

“The organization has grown quite a bit since we began,” said Griffin after estimating that LRO has helped over 1000 students. “It’s amazing that a little organization can gain so much support from not just people here at the high school, but people at the other schools. It’s a community wide thing.”

With cooler temperatures on the horizon, early request for cold-weather clothing are beginning to surface. This is where you come in.

LRO, which earned its tax-exempt status from the Internal Revenue Service in 2007, wouldn’t be possible with the generosity of the countless friends and families of our district who are willing to extend a hand to their neighbor.

Griffin, alongside the entire LRO Organization, ask you to get involved through one of the many avenues of aid:

Clothing Donations- Cold-weather clothing donations can be dropped off at NRHS any time. Donated clothes that aren’t suited for students are sold on consignment at The Snooty Fox, and those resale proceeds are added to the Lions Reach Out bank account.

Annual Craft Fair- The NR Marching Band is sponsoring the annual Craft Fair, Saturday, November 18, 9am-2 pm. Vendors can purchase a booth for $30 and tables for $5.

Monetary Donations- Cash donations can be made at any time at River Hills Bank or can be dropped off at or mailed to NRHS. Donations can also be made through Paypal at [email protected].
