Power Outage Early Dismissal

Today, on October 12, over 1800 homes experienced a power outage that affected areas throughout the New Richmond Exempted Village School District (NREVSD).

Today, on October 12, over 1800 homes experienced a power outage that affected areas throughout the New Richmond Exempted Village School District (NREVSD). With an anticipated return of power set for anywhere between 1:45pm and 2:45pm, a decision was made to release the students on a two hour early dismissal. Not long after this call was made, the power returned much earlier than anticipated.

“The safety of our students is always our number one priority. Rather than releasing the students immediately, we wanted to make certain that proper steps were taken,” stated NREVSD Superintendent Mr. Adam Bird. “I want to commend our food services teams and our transportation department for adapting quickly and efficiently in handling this unique situation. Lunch schedules were modified to ensure our students were fed before being sent home and the drivers of our district adjusted their schedules to make certain that all of our students had a way home safely.”

We thank you for your understanding of this unusual situation.
