HB416 means 2 makeup days for NREVSD

Ohio HB416 regarding calamity days has been passed by both the Ohio House and Senate and is awaiting the governor's signature. If signed, as expected, it will mean that the New Richmond Exempted Village School District must make up two snow days.

Ohio HB416 regarding calamity days has been passed by both the Ohio House and Senate and is awaiting the governor's signature. If signed, as expected, it will mean that the New Richmond Exempted Village School District must make up two snow days.

Provisions of HB 416:

1. As always, the first 5 calamity days do not need to be made up.

2. The next 4 calamity days (days 6-9) must be made up.

3. Then the next 4 calamity days(days 10-13) do not need to be made up.

New Richmond made up two days of the required four makeup days in HB416 through Blizzard Bags assignments.

“We have 2 days left to make up and then we will not have to make up the 10th calamity day,” said NREVSD Supt. Adam Bird. “So, the last day for seniors will be May 21 and the last day for all other students will be May 27. Work day for teachers will be May 28.”
This plan will become official when the governor signs the bill.
