Buckingham breaks scoring records

Josie Buckingham set girls basketball and school scoring records with 42 points in New Richmond's 68-42 win over Bethel-Tate in Thursday's Division II sectional tournament at Withrow High School.

New Richmond junior center Josie Buckingham amassed 42 points, 14 rebounds and 10 blocks in New Richmond's  68-42 win over Bethel-Tate in Thursday Division II sectional tournament at Withrow High School.

In addition to notching a triple-double, Buckingham broke the single-season girls scoring mark for New Richmond, which had been held by her mother Liz Misheff (38 in 1976-77), as well as the school's single game scoring record of 40 points, held by Tyler Henderson and Glenn Stiles.

Junior forward Alexis Meyer added 11 points for the Lady Lions in the win over Bethel.

The Lady Lions play No. 1 seed Oxford Talawanda in the sectional final Saturday at 4:30 p.m. at Withrow High School.
