Health Services

The NREVSD District Nurse and health aides are committed to meeting the daily healthcare needs of our students, as well as being a resource to parents and staff. We are dedicated to promoting health and safety for all students in our district. Additionally, we strive to be advocates for every student’s physical health and wellness, as well as mental, social, and emotional well-being.

What We Do
In addition to assessing and reacting to the daily needs of our students, including treatment of illness, contacting parents, and administering first aid:
  • The District Nurse and health aides maintain the clinics and student health records for each school in the district.
  • We complete vision screenings and referrals for grades K, 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, and 11 according to the Ohio Department of Health guidelines.
  • We complete hearing screenings and referrals for grades K, 1, 3, 5, 9, and 11 according to the Ohio Department of Health guidelines.
  • We serve as resources and educators to district staff on managing individual student health concerns and medical diagnoses.
  • We monitor and report immunization compliance in accordance to Ohio Revised Code, and we communicate the legal requirements to parents/guardians.
  • The District Nurse, with assistance from the health aides, develops emergency action plans for students with medically documented illnesses requiring emergent and/or rescue treatment at school.
  • The District Nurse, with assistance from the health aides, develops individualized healthcare plans for students with medical needs/considerations during the school day that guide staff on appropriate care for the student.
  • We administer medications as permitted by district policy, as prescribed by a physician: oral, rectal, ocular, aural, topical, inhaled, and injectable.
