NRHS, NRMS outline state guidelines for athletic events

Dear New Richmond Families and Members of our Community,

As you likely have heard by now, all Ohio high school athletes are permitted to practice and engage in competition as long as they are in compliance with all orders issued by Governor Mike DeWine and the Ohio Department of Health.

While we are pleased that our athletes will have an opportunity to participate in the fall athletic season, and we are eager to do our part to stop the spread of COVID-19, things will be different on many levels. For example, state requirements greatly limit the number of spectators who can attend our sporting events. For this reason, we will need to limit spectators to the family and household members of our student-athletes and band members for the remainder of the 2020 fall athletic season.

Thank you for your understanding and patience as we work together to provide our students with a meaningful experience with the restrictions that have been imposed by the state. We remain focused and dedicated to our commitment to doing what is best for our student-athletes, band members, staff, and fans.

The purpose of this message is to share with all of you the best information we have at this time regarding spectators at our events.

For all middle school and high school sports, we are limited to 15% of facility maximum capacity. Because of this limit, tickets will be made available only to family and household members of our student-athletes/band members. While in attendance at any of our events, individuals are required to wear a mask/face covering and remain seated in their family group. There should be a minimum of six feet of space between different family groups. Due to the differences in the size of our athletic venues, the limits are:

  • At NRHS, student-athlete/band members can receive a set number of tickets, which could be as few as 1 or up to 4, for all athletic events.

  • At NRMS, there is up to a 2 person limit per student-athlete for volleyball. For all other middle school sports, the limit per student-athlete is up to 4 guests.

Ticket Information (Southern Buckeye Athletic/Academic Conference Pricing)

For High School:

  • Football will be presale only ($7 for adults and students) for the family/household members of student-athletes/band members. There will be no ticket sales at the gate.

  • Volleyball and soccer tickets can be purchased at the gate by individuals whose name is included on a list of student-athlete

  •  invitees. (Ticket costs: $6 for adults, $4 for students).

For Middle School:

  • All tickets will be sold at the gate to individuals whose name is included on a list of student-athlete invitees. For football, all tickets are $4 and for volleyball, adult tickets are $4 and $3 for students.

A ticket is required for admission for individuals ages kindergarten on up. Younger children do not require a ticket.

Due to the 15% capacity limit, the district is not currently offering season passes, senior citizen passes, or staff passes and tickets.

Spectator Safety Precautions

All spectators 10 and older must wear a face mask/facial covering at all times unless seated and actively eating or drinking. At a minimum, facial coverings or masks should be cloth/fabric and cover an individual’s nose, mouth, and chin. Exceptions to this rule will only be for one of the reasons stated in the "Director’s Order for Facial Coverings throughout the State of Ohio."  Spectators requesting an exception must provide printed medical documentation upon arriving on campus.  In addition to the players, coaches, athletic trainers, and officials, spectators are also not permitted to congregate before or after games or practices. Spectators are required to remain seated in their family group and allow for 6 feet of space between different family groups.

Concessions

Due to health and safety guidelines, a limited selection of prepackaged items will be available at select sporting events.

Live Streaming of games

  • Varsity Football games will be live-streamed on the NRHS Football Facebook Page @newrichmondlionsfootball

  • We are still exploring the possibility of live streaming some of our other home contests.  We will provide updates as we have new information.

We know it's overwhelming to take in and keep up with all of this information.  As previously mentioned, this is what we know today — but we are constantly learning new information and receiving new guidance and mandates from both the local and state levels every day.  We will strive to always do what's best for the safety of our student-athletes, staff, and fans.

If you have any questions or need additional information, please contact our athletic office at 513-553-3191 x 10003.

Sincerely,

New Richmond High School Athletic Director

Douglas Foote
