Aug. 4 message from Mr. Burnside

Dear Students and Families of New Richmond High School,

I am extremely excited to take this opportunity to introduce myself and tell you how thankful I am to be joining the New Richmond community as the principal of NRHS. This new beginning also marks a homecoming for me as I began my administrative career as an assistant principal here back in 2006-07. In the time that has passed, I have watched my family grow in number and also progress through school, and my professional journey has included stops at Kings High School and Lakota East High School. While those changes have been both positive and challenging, there has been one constant for me that those who know me well will confirm - that I have always believed that the New Richmond Exempted Village School District and community is a special place and have always stated I would love to return, and I’m grateful that time has arrived. We are going to do great things together!

As every newscast or webpage scan will confirm, we are in unprecedented times in our nation and world, and we are all aware of the special challenges this brings to schools. We are meeting daily to create safe protocols for our students to return, and we are committed to providing an unmatched educational experience for our students. As we finalize our plans, we will share them as quickly as possible. We all have more questions than answers, and we know that we must be flexible as what seems to work today may not be an option tomorrow, and when necessary, we will reflect and adjust. Here is one thing that will be constant:

No matter what we face, we will always commit ourselves at NRHS to providing a rich educational experience with a student-centered culture. We will strive to ensure that all students receive both the support they need to overcome obstacles and the academic rigor they need to grow. We will meet each student where they are and we will walk with them in their journey to the next phase of their lives, whether those next steps involve enrollment at an institution of higher learning, enlistment in the military, undertaking an entrepreneurial endeavor, or entering their first stages of employment . When our students walk across the stage to receive their diplomas, we want them to have one belief: that there is nowhere in the world they would have wanted to attend than New Richmond High School.

As we move closer to the start of school, we will continue to push out information in as many ways as possible. Today we sent a letter to the parents of our incoming freshmen to provide information about next week’s Freshman Orientation. A letter will be sent to all students next
week that provides more details about returning to school. We will continue to send emails and post information to the HS webpage. Lastly, we will provide updates on social media frequently, and we encourage you to follow us on Facebook and also to follow us on Twitter (@NewRichmondHS).

In conclusion, here are a few items of helpful information:
  • Parking passes are available here at the HS between 8 AM and 2 PM. If you have questions, please contact Mr. Heflin at [email protected]
  • Freshman Orientation will take place on Tuesday, August 11 with modifications to maintain safety protocols, primarily that it will be offered as smaller sessions throughout the day. The letter sent home today provides details about times and signing up for a slot.
  • We will not have Schedule Pick-up but are working to post schedules to ProgressBook. If possible, we may mail these with our letter as well. For those who need help logging into ProgressBook, please contact Mrs. Fetchak in our guidance office at 513-553-3191 ext. 10802.
  • The final day to sign up for the virtual option is tomorrow - Wednesday, August 5.
  • For sign-up links for the Online Academy and for other information about the NREVSD’s Responsible Restart Plan, please visit the district webpage. Here is the link to the COVID-19 page: https://www.nrschools.org/Fall2020.aspx
  • For any other questions, please feel free to contact the Main Office at 513-553-3191 ext. 10002.

In spite of the challenges, we look forward to serving our community and our students this coming year, and we want to partner with our families in creating a world-class culture for our school. Please do not hesitate to contact us if we can be of assistance.

Sincerely,
Rob Burnside
Principal
New Richmond High School
