Dear Senior Parents,

After a week of conflicting messages, the Ohio Department of Education and the Governor's office have finally aligned for what is permissible regarding graduation ceremonies. Specific information can be found at this link:

Principal Bailey and his staff are very excited to be able to present a blended ceremony that offers a nice mix of all acceptable activities as outlined on the Ohio Department of Education's website. For students to receive their diplomas in person, we will use the following procedure:

1. During a designated time between 4 and 8 p.m. on graduation day, May 22nd, students and their families will arrive at the high school and pull into the school’s long drive. There will be 30 students assigned to each 30-minute time block. In an effort to accommodate all students, we respectfully ask each family to arrive in a single-vehicle. Students will be free to tastefully decorate their vehicles.

2. If cars get backed up, they will line up past the middle school and towards the central office as needed.

3. Members of district staff and police officers will be on hand to help coordinate the vehicle lineup and to ensure proper social distancing.

4. When the front vehicle reaches the awning at the high school’s main entrance, the student and their family members will exit their vehicle and receive his/her diploma. McIntire Photography will be onsite to take pictures.

5. School and district administrators along with Board of Education members will present the diplomas.

6. Once pictures are taken and the diploma is received, the student and their family members will return to their vehicle and pull out of the driveway onto Bethel-New Richmond Road. The next vehicle will then pull forward and the process is repeated.

7. At 8 p.m. that night, the virtual graduation video will be released for families to enjoy at their homes.

Though we all understand this isn't a typical ceremony, we are still trying to make this a memorable season for our seniors. Thank you for understanding. I hope to see everyone under the awning on May 22nd!

Sincerely,

Tracey Miller

Superintendent
