New Richmond High School

Dear Graduates and Parents,
It is with much excitement and enthusiasm that I share with you our plans for the New Richmond High School Class of 2020 Blended Graduation Ceremony! Our ceremony offers an excellent blending of all acceptable activities as outlined on the Ohio Department of Education’s website. Students and their families will participate in a personal diploma presentation ceremony on Friday, May 22, 2020, to be followed by a virtual graduation video. We will use the following procedure for the issuance of diplomas:
1. Between 4:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. on graduation day (May 22), students will be assigned a specified time to arrive with their families (listed below). You will be asked to follow the map included in this document for clarification of our graduation traffic flow pattern. In an effort to accommodate all students, we respectfully ask each family to arrive in a single vehicle. Students are encouraged to tastefully decorate their vehicle for this special event.
2. Staff and police will be on hand to assist and to help everyone line up and stay in their vehicles to ensure social distancing.
3. Any honor cords and/or medallions earned will be picked up at the awning by the cafeteria entrance prior to coming forward for the diploma presentation (see map below). Students are encouraged to don their “hardware” for the diploma presentation and official graduation picture.
4. When the front vehicle reaches the awning by the main entrance to the high school, the student and family will get out of their car, receive their diploma, and take pictures.
5. School and district administrators along with Board members will be present to confer diplomas.
6. Once pictures are taken and diploma received, the family will get back in their vehicle and pull out of the driveway onto Bethel New Richmond Road, then the next vehicle will pull forward and the process will be repeated for the next graduate.
In addition to the in-person presentation of diplomas, a New Richmond High School Class of 2020 Virtual Graduation Video will be released on Saturday, May 23, 2020 at 7:00 p.m. The video will be posted on our high school website as well as on the NR Facebook page for your viewing pleasure. We want to thank Mr. Steve Kirschner from Black Tent Productions and Mr. Dakota Smith, our Technology Integrationist from Forward Edge for their tireless efforts to produce an outstanding and memorable video in the essence of a traditional New Richmond High School Graduation Ceremony!
I am hopeful our seniors and their parents recognize that we most definitely understand how important this special day is for your family. We have gone to great lengths to celebrate this milestone accomplishment given the circumstances. I look forward to seeing each of you and celebrating your achievements on May 22, 2020!
