SRO Contracts for Monroe, NRHS/NRMS Campus

During its August 15th, 2022 meeting, the Board of Education approved a contract extension with the Clermont County Sheriff’s office for a school resource officer at the high school/middle school campus. This contract was set to expire at the end of this school year. Sheriff Robert Leahy offered a two-year contract extension at the same annual rate.

The Board also approved a contract to provide an armed deputy for Monroe for a specified number of hours per week. This mirrors what was approved last month with the Pierce Township Police Department and Locust Corner Elementary.

The police officers are integral to the district’s ongoing efforts to make our schools safe and secure.

Additionally, the district is pursuing recently announced grant dollars made available by the state to help improve school security. The monies, if awarded to New Richmond Schools, would help cover the cost of the construction of double entries for our buildings and updated video equipment. A double entrance was constructed at New Richmond High School late last school year.
