NRMS, NRHS to survey students on mental health

Dear Parents,

Next week, we will be conducting a survey of New Richmond Middle School and New Richmond High School students to determine their knowledge of mental health resources and knowledge in addition to their feelings about the climate at their respective school in order to get a picture of overall student mental health and well-being. Students at Locust Corner Elementary and Monroe Elementary will not be part of this survey.

The results of this survey will be used to improve efforts at those schools to enhance student mental health. The survey is being conducted by 1N5 and is part of ongoing work we will be doing with them to enhance the mental health programing at the school.

Students will take the survey (approximately 10 minutes) on January 12. The survey is completely anonymous; responses cannot be tracked back to individual students. The only risk to students is the possibility that some questions may make them uncomfortable. The surveys will be completed in class and the school’s counseling services will be available to

answer any student questions or concerns that may arise. Students will have the right to not answer any question. Their participation is completely voluntary and they can withdraw from participation at any time.

A link to the survey can be found here. If you are not willing to allow your student to take this survey, you may opt your student out by completing the opt-out form that was sent via email earlier today. Please return that letter to your building's principal by January 11.

If you are willing to have your student participate in this anonymous survey, you do not need to take any action. If you have any questions or concerns about the survey or the study, please contact NRHS Principal Joe Roberts ([email protected]) or NRMS Principal Court Lilly ([email protected]).

Thank you for your time and consideration,
