New Richmond EVSD Superintendent Tracey Miller is pleased to announce the hiring of Robert Burnside as the next principal of New Richmond High School.

The New Richmond Board of Education approved Mr. Burnside during its July 20 meeting.

This will mark a homecoming of sorts for Mr. Burnside who held his first administrative position here in New Richmond Schools as the assistant principal at NRHS from 2006-2007. Mr. Burnside is currently an associate principal at Lakota East High School Freshman Campus. From 2007 to 2017 he was the assistant principal at Kings High School.

New Richmond received more than 30 applications for the high school principal opening. Mr. Miller and Director John Frye screened the applications and identified four candidates for in-person interviews with students, parents, high school teachers and district administrators.

“I’m excited to have Mr. Burnside join the New Richmond Pride,” Mr. Miller said. He brings with him tremendous management and instructional skills. Mr. Burnside also has experience in transitioning a building that had limited technological tools to one that provides devices to all students which resulted in the evolution of instructional practices.”

While at Lakota, Mr. Burnside was also involved in a pilot program at the freshman school focused on moving the district toward personalized instruction.

“He’s a great addition to our team and I expect wonderful things from him,” Mr.Miller said.
