New Richmond Exempted Village School District is thrilled to announce the selection of Trey Newberry to serve as the district’s next Athletic Director.
“As a district, we couldn’t be more excited to welcome Mr. Newberry to New Richmond!” Incoming Superintendent Paul Daniels said. “A special thank you to the students, parents, and staff who participated in the interview process. The feedback we received on Mr. Newberry consistently highlighted three key themes: student-centered, experienced, and mentor-oriented. We know he will continue to put the well-being of our athletes first, and we look forward to introducing him to the New Richmond community.”
Mr. Newberry brings a wealth of experience in a wide variety of roles to the district. He has served as the Director of Athletics at Shroder High School in Cincinnati for six years. Before that, Mr. Newberry had worked at Indianapolis Public Schools, the YMCA of Greater Cincinnati, and the Cincinnati Bengals.
"I'm thrilled," Mr. Newberry said. "It's an exhilarating opportunity to be able to get into New Richmond and follow up on the great work that Doug Foote has done. I'm anxious to get started, ready to work with the kids, coaches, and community."
During his time at Shroder, Mr. Newberry helped the Jaguars earn the prestigious Quality Program Assessment Award, an honor only seven other schools in the state of Ohio have earned.
He also helped the district raise over $300,000 for renovations to the strength and conditioning room. He partnered with the Reds Community Fund to provide artificial turf at the Jaguars’ baseball field.
"I'm for kids, always," Mr. Newberry said. "It's all about education-based athletics, using sports as a conduit to teach life lessons. I think at the same time you want to have some athletic success, but the main thing is helping kids get to their God-given potential."
Mr. Newberry has been recognized by the National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association (NIAAA) as a Certified Master Athletic Administrator. To earn that honor, Mr. Newberry had to display exemplary knowledge, contributions, and ongoing professional development in the field of interscholastic athletic administration.
He also enters the role with a level of familiarity with the district, having worked at other schools in the area prior to his current position. He believes the community’s reputation precedes itself.
"The New Richmond community has been amazing," Mr. Newberry said. "Every time I've come to New Richmond, the community has been amazing. I'm looking forward to continuing that relationship."
A Cincinnati native, Mr. Newberry holds a Master’s Degree in Sports Administration from Xavier University. He will be just the seventh person to serve as the athletic director at New Richmond High School in the past 52 years, most recently following Pat Hill (1998-2008) and Doug Foote (2008-2025).
