Instructional Delivery Changes Take Place In NREVSD’s Gifted Program In 2017/18

“Every child has a different learning style and pace. Each child is unique,
not only capable of learning but also capable of succeeding.”
Robert John Meehan, A Teacher’s Journey

The New Richmond Exempted Village School District’s (NREVSD) vision statement rest on three key pillars: a commitment to excellence, a passion for innovative learning, and engaging tomorrow’s leaders. NREVSD recognizes that every student walking through the halls of our schools are unique in how they learn and each posses the ability to succeed.

One way that NREVSD is upholding the commitment to the district’s vision statement is through their implementation of the Gifted Program.

Students identified as gifted need differentiated curriculum and instruction in order to fully develop their cognitive, academic, creative, and artistic abilities. The students in the district are provided with opportunities dependant upon their grade level and identifications.

Due to the continual effort by NREVSD to foster the most impactful learning environment for its students, the gifted program will undergo changes in its instructional delivery for this academic school year.

This year, students, grades fourth through sixth, who are identified as gifted, will work with other students in their grade level. Each of these cohorts will be bussed to the New Richmond Middle School to meet one day a week on a three week rotating cycle. Students will meet collectively with their peers to work on project-based learning experiences in the following areas: Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math.

“Our district is working closely with the Hamilton County Educational Service Center to provide training for all of our teachers in providing differentiated instruction for all students - especially those identified as gifted,” stated Adam Bird, NREVSD Superintendent.

There will be an Open House at the New Richmond Middle School on Wednesday, August 16 at 6pm. Parents and students will have an opportunity to learn more about the Gifted Program for 2017/18.
