Pandey named March's Beth Webster Leading Lion

Winning a championship in any activity is hard enough. Winning back-to-back championships? Now that takes true talent.

Locust Corner Elementary student Adri Pandey has that talent and it has earned him the Beth Webster Leading Lion award for the month of March.

Joe Roach, the principal at Locust Corner Elementary, praised Pandey for his spelling prowess, acknowledging his back-to-back spelling bee championships.

“He won our competition in fourth grade and in fifth grade and if you’ve ever been in a spelling bee, you know it’s very nerve wracking,” Roach said. “You put a lot of work into studying the words, trying to put your best foot forward and he did that.”

Pandey is a stellar student, earning straight A’s in every quarter at Locust Corner Elementary. He also has perfect attendance this school year and drew high marks from several of his teachers for his character.

“He’s very conscientious, very hard-working and a very curious student,” Roach said. “He participates vigorously in lessons and has very high standards for completing his work. He’s very kind to his peers and respectful to his teachers. He’s been a shining example of the best of Locust Corner since the beginning, all the way back in preschool.”
