New Richmond mourns loss of Joe Golfman
The New Richmond community and Monroe Elementary mourns the loss of a great friend in Joe Golfman, 96, who died May 13. Joe volunteered at Monroe for three decades and played Santa Claus for 27 years at the school's Christmas party. In this 2011 video during one of the New Richmond Exempted Village School District's Veterans Day programs hosted by Ralph Shephard, Joe tells the story about his encounter with a German Tiger Tank in World War II.
Visitation for Mr. Golfman will be held from 5:00-8:00 PM, Thursday, May 19, 2016 at E.C. Nurre Funeral Home, 177 W. Main St. (SR 125), Amelia. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday at the Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery, Monroe Township.
