Charlie's Trains

Charlie Holcombe is a 6th Grader at Locust Corner Elementary; but long before he reached 6th grade, Charlie professed his love for steam trains.
Charlie’s mom, Stacey, said that growing up he would watch documentaries about locomotives. It was the start of something special.

By happenstance, Charlie found out about a train restoration project, 2716, happening in New Haven, Kentucky, just east of Elizabethtown. All it took was one trip down to the site of the train for Charlie to know he wanted to help. The restoration project is expected to cost about $1 million (or more)....and while that is a LOT of money, Charlie knew that every dollar would count. Being a gifted artist, Charlie began to draw trains and sell them.

He and his mom were hoping to raise $100….maybe even $200. See the video below and hear from Charlie himself about the impact he was able to have on Project 2716.
