To the New Richmond Exempted Village School District Community

To the New Richmond Exempted Village School District Community:

By now, most of our community has heard of the passing of New Richmond Middle School teacher Erin Keith. She passed away the morning of January 15, 2017 while sleeping. I know that many of us feel shocked, deeply saddened, and have a tremendous sense of loss.

Mrs. Keith has affected the lives of thousands of New Richmond students as a Social Studies teacher and coach at New Richmond Middle School for the past 18 years. She was also a coach in several New Richmond youth sports organizations and a “mom” to the friends of her two children. Most recently, she was a member of the school district’s Technology Leadership Team. She and her family are deeply connected and are valued members of the New Richmond School Community.

School reopens tomorrow and it will be a difficult day for her school colleagues, students, and her former students who are now attending New Richmond High School. There will be grieving by the many that loved and worked with Mrs. Keith.

The Clermont County Crisis Team has been activated to support our students and staff. The Crisis Team is comprised of counselors and psychologists from around Clermont County and they will be in attendance at New Richmond Middle School as well as at the high school and each of our elementary buildings for most of this week. I want our parents to know that we will be prepared to the best of our ability to support students who are grieving, depressed, and/or angry.

Many of you have offered to help in anyway that you can. The best thing we can do right now is to be ready to love, support, and pray for Erin Keith’s family and her students.

Respectfully,

Adam C Bird
