2015-16 PTO Meeting Minutes

Monday, September 14th 2015

Attendees: Mr. Mark Bailey, Mary Ann Wilson, Stephanie Torrens, Mike Henderson, Barb Nazareth, Jenn Stephen, Sue Griffin, Tricia Wuest, Heather Ipsaro, Alicia Walls, Lisa Heflin, Jana Holdsworth

Welcome:

Mary Ann Wilson opened the meeting by welcoming everyone, introductions were made.

For new parents that are unaware please sign up for the FORSEE Report that is sent out via e-mail on a daily basis. The report gives you daily announcements and activities. You can register on the school website or e-mail her at [email protected]

Treasurer Report:

Balance is $5,239.58

Principal’s Report:

We held our meeting in the new Media Center

There are Five (5) new staff members this year Mr. Bailey would still like to have an additional PE teacher for safety reasons (one locker room is unsupervised) and a Media tech for the new media center.

Josh Stratton has taken over the new college and career readiness class offered this year to all sophomores. The school has purchased the program Noviance which interfaces with colleges and universities.

Welcome Lisbee Hannah as our new vocal music teacher. Mr. Harris and Ms. Parker have agreed to assist with Drams/Musical.

We have started the new College and Career success class this year- the students meet with a team of professional business members 7th period.

The Media Center: Mr. Bailey would like a licensed media specialist. We need 5 more Chrome Carts with Chrome books. Mr. Bailey is asking for $45,000 for the Chrome carts and Chrome books.

Mr. Bailey is looking into a 3D printer

The PARK test is being replaced by the AIR test as the new State Mandated Testing

The first of the random drug testing was Tuesday 09/08/2015. They will select 22 students each time. The company is Great Lakes Biomedical. Those students being tested will be anyone in a sport, extracurricular activity and anyone who has a parking spot.

Progress Book and lesson plans should be updated by the teachers every Monday AM. If progress book is not being updated please let Mr. Bailey know. Please contact him at 513-553-3191 ext. 10001

Lions Outreach-Sue Griffin

She is collecting clothes and shoes any size now through October 31st

Please let her know if you would like to sponsor a child/family for Christmas

We still have the Amazon SMILE account, where Amazon donates a portion of your purchase to The Lion’s Outreach.

Ms. Griffin would like to move the talent show to March. Attendance in April was low due to spring sports. Money made from the talent show goes toward After Prom. She is happy to head up this project again this year.

Volunteers

Split the Pot volunteers are needed for the remainder of the Football games. Volunteers only stay until Half time and only do the home games.

We discussed having Split the Pot at the Basketball games and at Wrestling

Magnets

Jana Holdsworth to look into purchasing Magnets to sell

“SOUP”er Fundraiser

We need to find 2 dates during Basketball- youth night and the Amelia Home game and possibly a date during wrestling either to be held on a Friday PM or a Saturday AM Jana to look into the dates.

The sign-up sheet for Clash and Homecoming was passed around

Mike Henderson to get Kroger bags for the coat check at Homecoming

We will also need to purchase tickets for the coat check for Homecoming

Parent/Teacher Conferences

September 24th and 28th there are 60-65 staff members. Please have all donated food items to the HS old Library by 2:30 the teachers eat about 3PM. Jana to send out a SignUpGenius

Kroger rewards
Please sign up for the Kroger rewards program… You must re-enroll every April for the program

Cost: $25.00 per session

Location: New Richmond High School swimming pool (enter the doors in the back of the building by the cafeteria)
Children should be at least 3 years old
No school – No lessons

Mary Ann to see why we were going to purchase a microwave last school year
The next meeting will be held on Monday October the 12th at 7PM. Mr. Bird will be speaking at the meeting please spread the word.
