Four to join Lions Hall of Fame
New Richmond High School’s first Division I college players in football and basketball will join two of the school’s all-time greats in softball and swimming in the 2016 class of the New Richmond Lions Sports Hall of Fame. Thomas Wildey, 1959 graduate who played football at Ohio State; Jeffrey Kuhn, 1962 graduate who played basketball at the University of Cincinnati; Michelle Sweet, 2009 graduate who was a three-sport star in soccer, basketball and softball; and Alex Lewis, 2010 graduate who owns 11 school and league swimming records, will go into the Lions Hall of Fame at the annual induction banquet at 6 p.m. on Jan. 16 in the high school cafeteria.

School Board adopts drug testing policy
The Board of Education of the New Richmond Exempted Village School District at its August 17 meeting approved a random drug testing policy for New Richmond High School athletes and students involved in extra-curricular activities. Students in grades 9-12 who participate in athletics, students who participate in extra-curricular activities, students possessing District parking privileges, and students who volunteer will be required to submit to random drug tests administered by a third-party laboratory. The random drug testing policy is available at the link below:


NRHS Basketball Camp is June 29-July 2

New Richmond High School boys varsity basketball coach Brian McMonigle and  Lady Lions varsity coach Tom Wessner and the boys and girls basketball staffs will hold their 6th annual New Richmond High School Boys and Girls Basketball Camp for students entering grades K-8 from June 29 to July 2 at the high school gym. Cost of the camp is $30 per camper for the entire week for preregistrations ($40 registration at the door Monday morning). The Camp brochure and application form is available online at this link:

Lions host Australian team in preseason scrimmage
Chris Sheldon, Jeff Zink and Kenny Shoemaker called the action when the Lions hosted a traveling team from Melbourne, Australia in a preseason scrimmage Nov. 24.
NRHS honors its basketball champions
New Richmond High School honored its 2014 Southern Buckeye Conference American Division champion boys and girls basketball teams at a Feb. 14 pep rally. It marked the first time since 1975 that both girls and boys won league titles. 
All Feb. 5 events cancelled
Today's scheduled New Richmond High School girls basketball home game vs. Georgetown has been cancelled with no make up date. New Richmond will play Georgetown Saturday, Feb. 8 in the SBAAC Championship at Williamsburg at 6:45 p.m. The NRHS Academic Team match with Batavia has been rescheduled for Feb. 18. Three to join Lions Sports Hall of Fame
Two athletes from the mid-1990s who received Division I college scholarships and the most successful soccer coach in New Richmond High School history will be inducted into the New Richmond Lions Sports Hall of Fame on January 25.
Summer basketball camp begins Monday
The 4th annual New Richmond High School boys and girls basketball summer camp for students grades 1-8 will be held June 3-6 at the high school. Walk-up registrations will be accepted. Download camp brochure and registeration form at

The 2013 New Richmond High School Boys and Girls Basketball Camp attracted 105 players. The camp, conducted by Lions varsity coach Brian McMonigle and Lady Lions varsity coach Brad Hatfield, featured current and past New Richmond players as camp instructors.

Brian McMonigle
Coach Brian McMonigle is entering his eighth season as the New Richmond High School Boys Basketball Coach. Brian has 14 years of coaching experience and played four years of college basketball. As an alumnus of the New Richmond High School basketball program, his enthusiasm and loyalty run deep to the players who wear the red and black. His goal is to build a championship program, by building championship young men. 
Coach McMonigle is assisted by JV coach  Will Shoemaker, freshman coach Mike Laub and volunteer assistants Dylan Phillips and Kyle Seibert.
