CC Coach

Rylan Shebesta 
Rylan Shebesta is returning for his 10th season as coach of New Richmond's boys and girls cross country teams. Rylan, a former tennis instructor at Beechmont Racquetball Club, also coaches boys tennis in the spring season. Both of the boys and girls cross country teams have won Southern Buckeye Conference American Division Championships the past two seasons. The girls cross country team has won the OHSAA Southwest District Championship (Division II) in 2012 and 2014.

Shebesta was a four-year varsity soccer and three-year varsity tennis athlete at Amelia High School and played tennis for four years at Indiana Wesleyan University. He also coached tennis for three years at Indiana Wesleyan, which won league titles all three years and qualified for NAIA Div. II nationals in two of those years. He also coached boys varsity tennis for Marion (Ind.) High School for two years before returning to Ohio. Shebesta has previously been a tennis instructor at Beechmont Racquet Club and also has coached tennis at Camp Takajo (Naples, Maine), as well as served as the head tennis Instructor at Grant County Tennis Camp (Marion, IN). He teaches Math 10, Pre-Calculus and AP Calculus at New Richmond.

School Board adopts drug testing policy

School Board adopts drug testing policy

The Board of Education of the New Richmond Exempted Village School District at its August 17 meeting approved a random drug testing policy for New Richmond High School athletes and students involved in extra-curricular activities. Students in grades 9-12 who participate in athletics, students who participate in extra-curricular activities, students possessing District parking privileges, and students who volunteer will be required to submit to random drug tests administered by a third-party laboratory. NRHS dominates SBAAC Cross Country

New Richmond High School dominated the 2014 Southern Buckeye Cross Country championship. The boys, led by individual champion Bobby Bingham, won the boys title by 22 points over second place Batavia while the NRHS girls, led by individual champion Claire Burns, took the girls championship by 38 points over second place Western Brown.

Cross Ccountry Inv. features Open 5K race

Cross Ccountry Inv. features Open 5K race

New Richmond High School will be hosting its annual cross country invitational Saturday, September 20th that includes an open 5K race that is the same course the runners compete. This race is open to anyone that is not on a current high school cross country team. The Open 5K race begins at 10 a.m. and has an entry fee of $10. Proceeds from the race will go towards a scholarship given out to a senior boy and senior girl on the cross country team at the end of the year. Runners may register on race day or in advance at the high school office beginning Sept. 17. More +

Bingham top runner in NRHS Invitational

Bobby Bingham finished first and his NRHS Lions team finished 2nd missing out on first place by only 8 points in the 2013 NRHS Cross Country Invitational Sept. 21.  Top Runners for the boys team included: Bobby Bingham (1st); Stone Oliver (23rd); Darik Page (32nd); Lyle Hawkins (38th); Luke Glenn (41st); Charlie Spicker (47th); Brian Lewis (48th). The New Richmond girls cross country team easily won our home (mudd run) invitational Sept. 21 placing 6 girls in the top 25.  Top runners for the girls included: Claire Burns (2nd); Taryn Rupp (5th); Bailey Haas (14th); Grace Hauserman (15th);
