Four to join Lions Hall of Fame

Four to join Lions Hall of Fame

New Richmond High School’s first Division I college players in football and basketball will join two of the school’s all-time greats in softball and swimming in the 2016 class of the New Richmond Lions Sports Hall of Fame. Thomas Wildey, 1959 graduate who played football at Ohio State; Jeffrey Kuhn, 1962 graduate who played basketball at the University of Cincinnati; Michelle Sweet, 2009 graduate who was a three-sport star in soccer, basketball and softball; and Alex Lewis, 2010 graduate who owns 11 school and league swimming records, will go into the Lions Hall of Fame at the annual induction banquet at 6 p.m. on Jan. 16 in the high school cafeteria. School Board adopts drug testing policy

School Board adopts drug testing policy

The Board of Education of the New Richmond Exempted Village School District at its August 17 meeting approved a random drug testing policy for New Richmond High School athletes and students involved in extra-curricular activities. Students in grades 9-12 who participate in athletics, students who participate in extra-curricular activities, students possessing District parking privileges, and students who volunteer will be required to submit to random drug tests administered by a third-party laboratory. Rousing sendoff for Jordyn Torrens

New Richmond High School Freshman Jordyn Torrens got a rousing sendoff Feb. 25 to the Ohio high school state swim meet in Canton where she will compete in the women's Division II 100 Yard Butterfly event. Jordyn became on the fifth New Richmond High School swimmer to qualifier for the state meet joining Debbie Kyle, Nate Kramer, Alex Lewis and Tyler David, all coached by New Richmond coaching legend Judy Middeler.

NREVSD saddened by loss of Joe Middeler

The New Richmond Exempted Village School District lost a popular coach and a loyal district supporter April 18 when Joe Middeler was killed in a mowing accident at his home near Moscow. “This is a tragic loss for our district and the NR community,” said NREVSD Supt. Champion sendoff for Tyler David

New Richmond High School senior Tyler David was given a champions sendoff Feb. 19 for his trip to the Ohio High School Athletic Association state swim meet in Canton where he will be competing in the 200 and 500 freestyle events. David, who carries a 4.0 GPA with a full-load of post secondary courses at Clermont College, is being recruited by several Division I colleges including Cleveland State where former Lion Alex Lewis has been a four-year standout.

Swimmers finish strong in district meet

New Richmond High School swimmers finished strong in the Ohio High School Athletic Association district swim meet at Miami University Feb. 16 including school record performances by the girls 200 medley and 400 freestyle relay teams.

Boys and girls swim teams capture SOSL titles

On Saturday, February 2, for the first time in NR swimming history both boys and girls ended the season as Southern Ohio Swim League Champions. It was a great day of swimming for all the NR swimmers.  Kara Burns set her own personal new RECORD in the 100 yd. Breaststroke with a time of 1:16.63 and this is also a new school record. She also finished in 2nd place with a time of 5:50.62 for the 500 yd. Freestyle. More +

 Judy Middeler
Girls Swim Coach 
Middeler is entering her 40th year as the Lady Lions swim coach. A 1970 graduate of New Richmond High School, Judy received her BA degree from the University of Cincinnati in 1974 and her Masters of Education from the College of Mt. St. Joseph.

Judy has taught physical education and health at New Richmond Middle School since 1976. She has given swim lessons for the New Richmond High School PTO since 1969 and has been an OHSAA swim official for more than 30 years.

Richard Mahan

Boys Swim Coach 

Mahan has been coaching swimming at New Richmond Middle school since 2000. He started swimming competitively at the age of 6 for Coney Island and swam as a freshmen at New Richmond High School.
