Patrick Burke has been a teacher and coach at New Richmond for 2 years.  Prior to becoming head boy’s track coach and head football coach, he was most recently the defensive line coach and co. defensive coordinator at New Richmond, under former head coach Josh Stratton.

Coach Burke is a graduate of Covington Catholic High School class of 2005.  He received his undergraduate degree at Union College, where he was a 4 year member of the football.  He began his coaching career at Grant County High School in 2010.

Prior to New Richmond Coach Burke spent three seasons at Covington Catholic High School serving as the defensive line coach and defensive coordinator.

Coach Burke has been married to his wonderful wife Jessica for 5 years together they have one child William who is 2.

Doug Smiddy is in his first year as head coach of the New Richmond girls varsity track team.  Doug is from Springfield, Ohio and graduated from the University of Dayton in 1988.  He began teaching in the New Richmond School district in the fall of 1988 and has coached wrestling and cross country at both the High School and Middle School levels.  He has been blessed to have coached numerous State qualifiers in both sports.  Doug also has coached five New Richmond athletes that have already been inducted into New Richmond’s Hall of Fame.

Doug is married to Amy, a New Richmond teacher as well, and has seen his three children attend/graduate from New Richmond Schools.  He laughs at the fact that he is probably the oldest rookie head track coach but looks forward to working with Patrick Burke, Ben Osborne, and such hard working track athletes.

Our goal is to concentrate on the process:  run faster times, jump farther, jump higher, and throw farther at the end of the season than we did at the beginning of the season.  We will celebrate the improvements made and the end results should take care of themselves.
